I'm trying to use an old display from a Portable DVD player (used in cars). The display is a 7" 0004-JXY-A1 from Hannstar. It uses the same flatcable as the rasberryPi Camera so i thought maybe i could use this screen? Well i have some pictures attached to help you guys understand but when connecting the screen i ofc don't get an image. I need drivers or i think i could solder the screen to some pins, any ideas would be great. I do have another screen but rn i could not buy anything so i'm looking into doing it without buying other material.
Why did you remove the second ribbon cable? It connects the board at the back with the monitor...

I just disconnected it to make a picture, it's plug and play

Then there may be a lack of power.
The official display is connected with plus and minus to the pins of the Pi.
Another display that I use must also be connected via USB.
I don't think the Pi sends enough or any power at all via the display connection.

hmm will use another power brick, but i don't think it works like that 😄 if the power is indeed not enough... could i use the PI gpio pins?

This is the small board

As I have already mentioned, this is how it is done with the official display, so yes. I would start with 3 V and if that doesn't work go to the 5 V pin.

Update: i connected the backlight + - to the GPIO pins + needed 10V

So now i have this ... Could i also fix an image?

Is there an OS on the Pi?
Is the ribbon cable connected the right way round?
xdrushxd
the ribbon cable is connected with the pins inward, there is raspberry pi OS on it
thunder07337
Then perhaps the Pi is missing the driver.
xdrushxd
i think thats the problem couldn't find any driver anywhere
xdrushxd
where should i find generic drivers ?
thunder07337
Mostly with the manufacturer of the devices. But it will be difficult with your display.
You just have to search the internet to see if there are any general drivers available. Unfortunately I have no experience.
