Solid red light

Hi, I've had this Pi4 for about 6 months, however i just now started using it again. I've ran into this issue where the pi has a solid red light when it's powered by usb-c (may be dimmer than normal im not sure), but no boot or nothing show up on my monitor. The green light is always off too. I made sure the micro sd card worked with another pi, and it does. I also tried reinstalling the operating system. It's also important to note that Im only getting power with USB-C not with the circular connector nor the power pins. The USB ports also seem to be overheating very quickly. I see low voltage (2.3V) from TP1 and TP2.

After typing this i realize i could be really stupid and using an inefficient power supply ima check

spectryee

Yeah no that’s not the case

Yk what’s weird is I’m using a 5V 1amp block now for the usb c cable and the red lights up for less than a second then turns off

I just tried plugging it into directly to my pc, with works with my other pi4 but instead I get this as if the pi were drawing more power than it needs

spectryee

ive tried multiple cables so i dont think it's the cable's resistance

Can your USB port deliver the current that the Raspberry Pi 4 needs? And the power consumption is highly dependent of the CPU and WiFi usage.

Thanks for responding, the usb port on my pc should be able to power the pi and has powered the pi in the past and is still able to power the other one.

I’m also not sure how the cpu and WiFi would be used that much as the pi doesn’t even get to the part where it accesses the sd card to boot up

When troubleshooting, don't assume. Work trough the steps and rule out the possibilities one after another.
