40 for a water cooling system, well then...
But it's not intended for Pi, have fun trying to get it on the Pi.
herogaca
That's why diy
biomaestro911
Oh I see
biomaestro911
Yeah maybe thermal pads are the best option
biomaestro911
If the problem is just that the cpu is too low you can simply use thermal pads if the problem is that the aio block is so large that it hits the usb and Ethernet ports then idk
herogaca
and only if i stack like 5 of them that will reduce cooling by alot
herogaca
it hits everything
biomaestro911
Maybe
biomaestro911
And just maybe there’s another option
biomaestro911
Maybe buying just the block of the cooling system, removing the plastic part, sanding down the copper and then putting the aio on top
herogaca
heat spreader delid and fabricate taller one to touch just the cpu
herogaca
the block itself costs as much as the aio and more
biomaestro911
23€
herogaca
i got the aio for 40
herogaca
also only need to cool the cpu
biomaestro911
On Amazon.com is a bit more expensive
biomaestro911
biomaestro911
But on aliexpress you get them at 19.99
herogaca
on aliexpress they sell waterblocks for motherboard chipsets
Im not talking about modyfing the aio to use the water block
biomaestro911
I mean using the pi water block as an adapter
biomaestro911
For the aio
biomaestro911
Wouldn’t good ol thermal pads and paste fix that?
herogaca
I mean making your own loop from start
herogaca
Alloy mixing i mean like loop materials
herogaca
Radiator pump waterblock and liquid
herogaca
If you don't get correct materials you can accelerate oxidation meaning parts will corrode rly fast
herogaca
Like rust
biomaestro911
Yeah
biomaestro911
But aren’t both copper
biomaestro911
In your aio and the pi block?
herogaca
Pi block aluminium
herogaca
Copper expensive material
biomaestro911
Oh oh
biomaestro911
Then I guess I need a aio that has aluminium
biomaestro911
And what if you put thermal pad in between
biomaestro911
Wouldn’t a thermal pad be enough to protect it
biomaestro911
You just get a big enough one
biomaestro911
And
herogaca
Nah
herogaca
The cpu heat spreader is fine with it probably
herogaca
It's just not worth it to get an aio for this
herogaca
Idk if older aio have smaller waterblock tho
herogaca
It's better to build your own loop with aliexpress parts
biomaestro911
Un my case it is quite a lot
biomaestro911
So I’m confused
biomaestro911
What if you put a aluminium piece on top of the pi
biomaestro911
And then thermal pads
biomaestro911
On top of the piece
biomaestro911
And then a aio
biomaestro911
Would it work
biomaestro911
Or GALVANICED SQUARE STEEL
herogaca
I got an idea
Aio waterblock modding
Bottom copper piece can be removed and you can make your own with a center piece sticking out more to touch only the cpu
But needs tools
herogaca
It wont work
herogaca
You reduce cooling efficiency by like 50% or more
herogaca
Good as an idea tho
biomaestro911
As long as the 50% that stays is enough…
herogaca
I just remembered
herogaca
I got some small tower style cooler
herogaca
Old one idk where from
herogaca
biomaestro911
Nah for my project would not work
herogaca
You can try it if you find a copper block will be better even
biomaestro911
Or trying to get something that works more directly
biomaestro911
Without having to spend 23€ on a water block that I have to disassemble and sand down
