mcfctadaws

Hey everyone so i bought a Raspberry Pi 4 a few days ago, and today i decided to hop on and start learning about it even more, however i tried to plug my keyboard and mouse, none of them worked I reinstalled PiOS, again neither worked, my mouse gets a dim light which indicates its getting power but no response on the Raspberry Pi i really need your help, thank you very much!

mcfctadaws

forgot to mention, I plugged the ethernet cable, it does work so my USB Ports aren't broken or anything they just stopped working randomly

e_xie

are you using a reliable power supply

mcfctadaws

i used 4 different ones a 45w(which did work but im guessing it was overpower so i changed it) a 25w a 10w and my pc port

e_xie

yeah don't use your pc port

e_xie

what's the voltage and amps

mcfctadaws

for which one?

mcfctadaws

45 or 25 or 10?

mcfctadaws

the 10w is 5v 2a

mcfctadaws

thing is, power consumption was doing good for me it used to work, all ports worked but for some reason it stopped working

mcfctadaws

my mouse gets power as mentioned but it isn't working nor lighting up completely

oops.se

I just wanted you to have correct info about power supply/consumption.

oops.se

Does the green LED flicker/blink?

oops.se

The green LED = Activity, the red LED = Power

mcfctadaws

I get both

oops.se

Can you connect to the Pi from another computer via SSH ?

mcfctadaws

i don't know how to do that, and i formatted the SD card and reinstalled the OS so i am still on the setup screen

oops.se

If you use Raspberry Pi Imager you have a chooise for SSH, WiFi, User name and such.

oops.se

And install the "Lite" version to test first

mcfctadaws

so i install the lite version before i choose my SSH and what not

mcfctadaws

if it doesn't work then i go to the 64 and choose the SSH?

oops.se

And do you have a second mouse/keyboard to try with?

mcfctadaws

well my main keyboard and mouse but i can use those

oops.se

64?

mcfctadaws

yes

oops.se

What is 64? Your language is quite cryptic.

mcfctadaws

ah sorry

mcfctadaws

i meant x64, os version

mcfctadaws

okay, done that for the lite version keyboard and mouse still do not work

oops.se

And SSH?

mcfctadaws

done that too but im getting a no host found error

mcfctadaws

oops.se

Try with the IP

mcfctadaws

my public ip or my raspberry ip?

oops.se

Raspberry Pi

mcfctadaws

how do i get that cause i cannot control my raspberry pi

oops.se

As thats the device you are SSHing to

oops.se

Your router or a IP scanner should reveal that

mcfctadaws

ill use an ip scanner but the raspberry pi is connected via lan through my phone, will the ip scanner still detect it?

oops.se

"ethernet cable" through the phone?

mcfctadaws

yeah, because my router is quite far and i only have 1 extra short eth cable, i use a usb-c dock which comes with an eth port to share the eth from the dock to the Pi

mcfctadaws

i think i found its IP, cause i have one named "localhost" so im guessing thats the one?

mcfctadaws

i unplugged and replugged the eth cable, and on the raspberry pi it showed me an IP, is that the one?

mcfctadaws

<@796000224690307072> this may sound stupid but if i plugged a 45w charger to the pi, would that fry the usb ports? if so, how comes HDMI still works and i was able to use it before?

oops.se

If you have a 1L glass of water and start drinking it, will you drown then? The same about watt, the watt on a PSU is what the PSU can deliver to the consumer, So the consumer can consume up to what the PSU can deliver.

oops.se

And all electronic consist of a lot of components and a MCU consists of millions pf transistor, resistors and other components and each of them fan fail.
